Given by Nature. Proven by Science.
Manuka Health's Mission Statement is to manufacture and market a quality range of innovative natural healthcare products to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people across the globe by harnessing the scientifically proven health benefits of New Zealand's unique bioactives from native flora and fauna.
Manuka Health guarantees 100% pure bioactive ingredients in the products they make and harvest.
Industry Leadership

Manuka Health was the first in the world to establish a precise, scientific certification system for Manuka Honey based on the concentration of its bioactive compounds. This certification system is the result of research carried out at the Institute of Food Chemistry at the Technical University of Dresden in Germany led by Professor Thomas Henle.
Professor Henle and his team were the first to document that the compound primarily responsible for Manuka Honey's non-peroxide antibacterial activity was dietary Methylglyoxal. As of 2006, the 'unique manuka factor' was no longer unknown.
Despite resistance from the industry at large to embrace the new research, Methylglyoxal testing has become the standard of laboratories and producers of genuine manuka honey.
Manuka Health continues to lead the industry by harnessing the best scientific research and innovative product development.
Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance... From Source to Shelf
Manuka Health develops, manufactures and markets their products to ensure it remains in control of quality every step of the way.
All of the honey used by Manuka Health must meet the rigorous standards of quality and safety to ensure the levels of bioactive compounds are maintained. Manuka Health's comprehensive system provides traceability from beehive to shelf.
Every batch is tested in ISO 17025 certified laboratory to monitor diastase levels, HMF and methylglyoxal content before processing at RMP certified, state of the art facility in Te Awamutu, New Zealand.
Sustainable Practices
New Zealand's native flora and fauna evolved in isolation for more than 80 million years, resulting in some of the highest levels of natural bioactive compounds found anywhere in the world.
Manuka Health is proud to bring these unique products to the global marketplace and is committed to sustainable practices in beekeeping, harvesting and processing our products.

Is it Organic?
New Zealand does not use antibiotics for disease control in beekeeping. All hive ware is as natural as possible, relying on natural treatments rather than on chemical preservatives. Hives are kept out in the countryside, typically many kilometres away from human activity.
Other than using controls for Varroa Mite, New Zealand beekeepers follow the principles of organic honey production.
Manuka Health's operation is certified organic for processing organic honey. This is the same system Manuka Health uses for both organic and conventionally produced honey.
Is it Raw?
Great care is taken to ensure that the level of bioactive compounds is maintained from the hive to the finished product. A modern closed hot water system is used to melt the crystals that have formed during storage so the honey can be creamed and packed. This process does not exceed the natural temperature of the beehive. By most definitions, MGO™ Manuka Honey can therefore be classified as raw.
Additional Sustainable Initiatives
Manuka Health's beekeeping operation received the Massey University Discovery Award in the 2011 Balance Farm Environment Awards in recognition of new discovery and implementation of economically and environmentally sustainable farming systems. The Award recognises farmers and farming families who have been proactive in discovering new knowledge and applying that knowledge to move their farming business to a more sustainable state.
No chemicals are used during the processing of the honey and only hot water is used to clean the plant. No harsh chemical cleaners are entering the environment inside or outside of the plant.
Manuka Health is committed to utilising the most sustainable business practices possible to minimize the impact on the beautiful and unique environment where they are privileged to live and work.
